From time immortal, the Black Rose has had significant symbolism attached to it, even though a completely Black Rose is not found in nature. While no jet-black rose exists, there are some of such a deep red as to suggest black (see picture).

In many cultures black represents death and the Black Rose can thus be used as a symbol to express vengeance and retaliation. Elsewhere, Black Roses symbolize the death of old habits, thus signalling rebirth. In modern society they can even be used to celebrate life’s milestones, such as a special birthday.
